About Peaceful Minds Play Therapy
What is Play Therapy?
Children often lack the verbal capacity to express how they are feeling and may find it frustrating trying to find the words. Play is natural to children, and can show what a child is trying to say or is feeling without them feeling in the spotlight. Play can transcend verbal language, disability, and social inhibitions to show a child in their most natural, interactive and present state. It can provide the comfort and security a child needs to be able to show us who they really are.
Play Therapy uses insights shown in their play to help them develop a greater understanding of themselves. It also allows them to try out and play through experiences they may not feel ready to have in the outside world.
The playroom is a warm and reassuring environment which sparks their interest and balances fun with insight in their sessions.
I do this by using many methods such as.....
Art / Books / Drawing / Clay / Dance / Figurines / Imagination / Masks / Messy play / Mindfulness / Music / Nature / Puppets / Relaxation / Roleplay / Sand / Slime / Storytelling / Visualisations.
Children are the experts when it comes to feeling what is right, and what works for them as an individual. Therefore they are the experts when finding their own solutions to problems. My role is to support them to find and accept these solutions in a way that is meaningful to them.
These positive experiences in the playroom are then the stepping stones to their use in the outside world.

Jackie Ebben-Marsh
Play and Creative Arts Therapist
My name is Jackie Ebben-Marsh, and I am a Play and Creative Arts Therapist. I live in The Hague with my husband, our two children, and our cat, Tara. I am a native English speaker and have worked with international children for over fifteen years.
I previously worked as a social worker in the UK for a number of years, before travelling, and then having my own family. While I was a social worker, I read a book called Dibs in Search of Self, and that sparked my passion for supporting children therapeutically through play.
I am passionate about how children and young people can be supported to address worries and concerns in a timely manner in order to prevent unhealthy patterns in later life.
